THE COOKBOOK
A Docu-Series Celebrating the Soul of Food and Community
The Cookbook is a soulful and visually rich docu-series that breathes new life into iconic cookbooks, uncovering the stories, people, and places behind each dish. Hosted by Emmy-winning food writer and former chef Kirk Leins, this MYZOMI co-production dives deep into culinary culture by spotlighting the community, artistry, and activism often hidden behind recipes.
The pilot episode, Around the Table, features restaurateur Sherry Villanueva and Executive Chef Jason Paluska of The Lark in Santa Barbara, alongside renowned photo anthropologist Macduff Everton. Together, they guide us through the revitalization of a neglected part of the city, demonstrating how food can transform a neighborhood.
From organic farmers and mussel purveyors to award-winning chefs like Alice Waters, Marcus Samuelsson, and José Andrés, The Cookbook serves as a cultural and gastronomical journey. Each episode is a celebration of heritage, innovation, and the human connection that food creates.
